Survival town creation sim "Patron" - "Banished" "Sid Meier's Colonization" "Civilization" "Anno" element is worked well [Developer interview]

An interview with the developer of the new indie game I'm worried about this project. This time, we will deliver a mini-in-tavy to the development simulation " Patron " developer officially released on August 11 for Overseer Games Development and PC.

This work is a survival city creation simulation that incorporates elements of social dynamics (social dynamics / social kinetics). The player who is a leader in the city needs to address various social issues that have not only the construction of the city but also class, immigrants, religion, health, security and loyalty. It also supports Japanese, and the Japanese translation of this work is that the wife of the Chief Programmer's Japanese is in charge.

"Patron" is delivered at 2,050 yen (10% off until August 18).

- First of all, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?

MARIO NEMEC (hereinafter MARIO) One of the center members of OVERSEER Games, MARIO NEMEC. We are newly formed development teams, and this work will make a debut.

I have been playing all the genre games in a gamer since my childhood. I just love a virtual experience! There are two types of games I have inspired, and two types of urban construction games and colony construction games. Players can be creative in these games and felt that they will achieve their goals and do not require violence and destruction. Among such a game, it has been influenced by the original " THE SETTLERS " " strong hold " " SID Meier's Colonization" "Anno (Ano) ". However, if you choose only one game your favorite game, it will be the first " Sid Meier's Colonization ".

-Why did you start developing this work?

Mario We have played various urban construction games for many years, so I wanted to make something similar to them. For players, I wanted to make the game that we make every side. This means that not only build a city, but also to meet the needs according to society's growth, and sometimes you have to balance social classes, and sometimes political decisions.

- Please tell me the characteristics of this work.

Mario is a system of " Social Dynamics ". This means that the city will face the city, facing various different trials. The first one needs to have fewer people, and the player needs to ensure the minimum necessary to survive food, firewood and house. However, as the population increases, people begin to make four different social classes. And each class has different needs, and stance to various issues such as immigration, religion, security and education is different depending on each class.

When the player reaches this stage, it becomes important to meet their specific needs. However, it may be beneficial for one class, but it may be dangerous for other classes. If you do not have enough labor, you can solve the problem in the way you encourage immigrants. The men's class people may be satisfied with this, but farmers class may get angry and riot. While making these balances, it is the player's role of making a highly productive society, and it requires a long-eye plan or direct instruction.

As us, such an experience itself makes this work very distinctive. As the city goes large, I do not know what kind of problem comes out. Players must do the roles of construction and politicians at the same time.

- What kind of person do this work do you want to play?

I would like to play someone who likes the mario challenge. This work is complicated, and it will evolve as it advances the game. If an event that has not been expected occurs, people who can enjoy creative solutions and find them are also like this work. In addition, since this work is a relatively similar system to other urban construction games ("Banished" "Kingdoms Reborn" "Anno"), also interested in those who like such a game I would like you to bring it.

- Is there a work affected by this work?

Gaming History: Sid Meier's Colonization – The “problematic” 4X Strategy Game MARIO A certain extent is influenced by a game like "Banished" "Sid Meier's Colonization" "Sid Meier's Civilization" "Anno" and "The Settlers". All these games are wonderful, and I wanted to make a game that is easy to play for players of these works. This work is a complex game, so I wanted to get used to my own element's own factors by adopting a play-out system and operation method. If you play the game of this genre well, you will be able to get a glimpse of the impact of these games.

"Sid Meier's Colonization" is influenced by the stage of this work and the trade part with the mainland, and "Civilization" affects the research system of this work. "Anno" was affected by social dynamics and "Banished" part of the construction system of easy-to-understand buildings. In this work, I think these factors are actually working well.

-Did you have an impact on development by new coronavirus?

MARIO The impact on development of new corona was limited. Some of the pandemic continues for a long time, so some of the developments have to be done under different environments. Although it was a new challenge, we were able to adapt as much as possible. Here, Croatia was the most difficult time from the 2020 autumn to this spring. Meanwhile, many development team members had to work from home, so communication was more difficult and not able to show this work, but could not participate in international events. But somehow I could withstand the situation until I improved, I was able to reach the goal.

- Is it okay to deliver and revenerate this work?

There is no MARIO problem. Proud of the wonderful quality soundtrack made of the composer Nikola Jeremic. Thanks to him, the failed failure on Youtube was removed.

- Lastly, please give a message to the Japanese reader.

Thank you for your support from MARIO's players. If the pandemic converges, I want to exhibit our game at the Tokyo Game Show and I would like to show you directly to the Japanese players. Until then, please enjoy this work!

--thank you very much.
